Just before my oldest son was about to turn eighteen, I was dusting his picture one day and thought, “Well, this is almost over, he will be graduating from high school soon and my job will be over!” Immediately I sensed the Lord trying to correct me but I couldn’t understand, so I tucked the thoughts into the back of my mind.
A few weeks later my mother called after talking to my sister who had been having some problems. “Well, I think we’ve got things straightened out for now," Mom said with a sigh. “I tell you, kids are from the womb to the tomb.”
My mind ignited with what was wrong with my comment days earlier. “From the womb to the tomb!” I suddenly realized that I would never outgrow the position of “mother”. I would care for my son forever.
That’s the way God is, He forms us in our mother’s womb, seeing our yet unformed substance and schedules our days in His book. Then the Bible also tells us, He loves us with an EVERLASTING love! He loves us from the womb on past the tomb.
Just as I will always love, be interested in and be willing to help my son, that’s how God feels about us. I encourage you today to take a minute and receive His love for you. Thank Him for it. It will bless you and Him, too.
