Fight For Your Children, Not With Them

Do you know that one of God's avenues of power into our lives is through the unity we have with the people around us? Strife with those around us causes a division that keeps us from containing God's power in our lives.

One of the most subtle ways this division can happen in a family is through the fighting of the parents and the children. Especially when the child is in their teenage years. I had to learn to fight for my teenagers spiritually and not with them physically. There is a delicate difference between the two, and the self-discipline involved can be trying. But wrangling back and forth with our kids is far worse, as it chips away at us without our even realizing it, draining us of God's power.

The Bible states, "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the earth." When children do not honor the words of their parents, they separate themselves from the presence of God and open themselves to evil influences. They need someone to ask for God's mercy and forgiveness for them to open the way for them to come back. Take the Name of Jesus, the Blood that He shed and the Word of God and fight for your children and not with them.
