God Can Move in the Hearts of Men

"What kind of shoes do you want, son?" I asked him a bit impatiently. My feet hurt, I was tired and I wanted to go home. He picked up one shoe and then another, he couldn't make up his mind. Naturally the salesman who was waiting on us wandered over to help someone else. As soon as he did my son decided what he wanted, but now, no matter what I did I couldn't get the salesman's attention.

I could feel anger rising within me, but then I began to think about the Lord, I remembered I had made a commitment to walk in "His Love." So I said, "Lord, how would love behave right now?" Naturally, He spoke His Word back to me. "Love is patient, love is kind, love doesn't act unbecomingly..." OK Lord, I get the picture. If you want to stay here the rest of the day, I'm not going to get upset and I'm going to trust you to meet our needs.

As soon as I settled that within myself, the salesman came back over to us and said, "May I help you?"

With that I sensed the Lord saying, "You see, I can move in the hearts of men."

I learned a valuable lesson that day. If I will stay committed to God's way and trust Him to meet my needs, He will bring the answers to me. I won't have to strive to get them.

I like that. It saves a lot of energy.
