Sarah, A Worthy Role Model

It's always helpful to have a good role model. In fact, I think God intends for us to have them even though I don't believe His work is limited by our not having access to one.

In the scriptures, Abraham's wife Sarah is given as a role model for women to pattern themselves after. Her name means "noblewoman" and comes from a word meaning: lady, princess, queen and a root word meaning: chieftain, leader, governor... No wonder she's a role model.

Actually, she is one of the few women who is mentioned in the Faith Hall of Fame in Hebrews chapter 11. In verse 11, it says:

"Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised" (KJV).

The meaning of the word "judged" is much like the meaning of Sarah's name. That word definition in the Greek is: to have rule over, be governor; to lead, to have authority over.

You might say, because Sarah exercised her faith to receive the strength she needed to face an otherwise hopeless situation, she governed her situation. By her confidence in God to fulfill His promise, she brought forth a child when she was past the age of child bearing.

What is your hopeless situation? Receive strength now and conceive the seed of faith to overcome. This is the victory you have that overcomes the world, even your faith!
