Is There a Helper in the House?

There's always been a lot of talk about women and their roles but seldom have I heard anyone talk about the importance of the Helpership role in relation to the woman. The scriptures tell us that the woman was originally brought forth to be a "helper to mankind" and throughout the Old Testament that word "helper" is also used to describe God in part of His relationship to Israel. In the Psalms, David speaks of God as his helper more than once. In Psalm 89:19, he states:

"Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people" (KJV).

Obviously this is not a call of weakness, but strength.

For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, as stated in 2 Kings 14:26, that is was very bitter. He saw the poverty, misery, trouble and oppression, ... and one of the reasons was ... there was no helper for Israel.

When the Helpership Role is missing, there are dark times in the land.

As women of God, this is our call. Not a call of weakness, but of strength. It takes a woman of substance to be willing to fulfill her role. So I encourage you to be strong and of good courage, be willing to be one who furnishes relief, one who supports, and one who helps. Be willing to be a "Helper"!
