For years I have been cautioned by the Holy Spirit through a scripture found in Ezekiel 28:16. It’s one of those scriptures that ring in my ears periodically. I guess I need it more than most.
The scripture addresses what most scholars agree to be the reason Lucifer fell from God’s grace. It reads like this in the Amplified Bible:
“Through the abundance of your commerce you were filled with lawlessness and violence, and you sinned therefore I cast you out as a profane thing from the mountain of God.”
Now I know you’re wondering … so how does that relate to you, Mary Jean?
I believe the Lord uses it to keep me aware how easy it can be to get to moving too fast in life and leave Him behind ... especially at certain seasons of the year ... Christmas, for instance. There’s so much going on and so many distractions that if we don’t purpose to stay focused on Him we can get caught up in the “much merchandizing” of the world and just leave God out.
Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly … let’s not be so quick to give that up. If we get caught up in the “merchandizing” of the world, we will not be able to walk in the high places God has for us; and I know you don’t want that any more than I do.
Lord, help us to stay focused on You and allow You to fulfill Your plans in and through us each day.
